By the Numbers: February 2025

Each August the leadership team looks at the ages of the multiples in our member families as well as where they live so we can best prepare events for the year. But, each February we dive deeper in looking at other trends as well and we share that information to help prospective members get to know more about Space Coast Mothers of Multiples. Below you will find some of our latest demographics!

Types of Multiples: at this time, our twins headcount is very even, regarding whether the combination is boy/boy, boy/girl, or girl/girl. We currently have one set of triplets and have no families at present who have quads or higher.

Ages of Multiples: our number of members with multiples ages 8-11 is at a record high, but we also have had a great recruitment of new members – nearly a quarter of our group has multiples under 2 years old. Our numbers have dwindled in regards to those with teenage and adult multiples, but we are still very thankful for our longtime members!

Locations of Members: This is the area where we have seen the least shift since last year. We continue not to have many members at the far north and south ends of Brevard County, with over half of our population residing mainland between West Melbourne and Rockledge. Another quarter of our families call the beachside home, with the southern section remaining popular – only a few members are on the beaches north of Satellite right now.

Length of Membership: We have the esteemed privilege of celebrating over 40 years of being able to support families with multiple-birth children in Brevard County. Our longest-standing member joined in 1992 and still participates in the group, as does a 1997 member. We continue to bring new and enthusiastic MoMs into the fold, too, as over half of our members joined in the past four years.

More than Multiples: The more, the merrier! Exactly half of our members have other children in addition to their multiples, with most having one older or one younger child. Currently, none of our members have singletons both older and younger than their multiples. Right now, we also have one family currently who has two sets of multiples, plus another older child.

As you can see, there’s a little bit of everything in our group. If you’re just hearing about Space Coast Mothers of Multiples for the first time, now is a great time to reach out – we have a Spring full of all kinds of activities to enjoy, and our membership rate is pro-rated now that half the term is up.
